Machining

Changing the Industrial World

Delta’s in-house machine shop is equipped with over 40 machines allowing for single sourcing of finish machined parts. Two, four, and five axis CNC lathes allow us to finish components up to 32 inches in diameter and as long as 70 inches. We have the machines and the experience to turn, bore, and finish hone centrifugal castings up to 27 feet in length. Delta’s CNC milling machines complement our turning and boring capabilities. Delta has three state-of-the-art lapping tables for finishing parts to a mirror-finish with ultra-tight light band tolerance requirements. Knowledge + Capability = Performance.

CNC Lathe

Computer numerical control (CNC) machines process material to meet customer specifications using a coded programmed instruction without a manual operator directly controlling the machining operation. Delta maintains a wide range of CNC lathes. Using CNC machines allows Delta Centrifugal® to machine a wide range of parts requiring unique designs according to our customers’ drawings/specifications.

Honing

Honing is a process that produces a precision surface on a part by processing an abrasive grinding stone or paper through the inside diameter of a tube. Delta has three honing machines in-house that can hone inside diameters as small as 1 inch and as large as 29 inches with lengths up to 240 inches.

Manual Lathe

Manual machines process material to meet specifications with a skilled machinist directly controlling the lathe. This allows us to machine parts with lengths up to 260 inches with outside diameters up to 48 inches. This versatility gives Delta Centrifugal® the flexibility to run parts on multiple machines to achieve on-time and expedited delivery requirements.

Lapping

Lapping is a process in which the face of a part is rotated on a lapping table with an abrasive slurry applied to achieve flatness and exact surface finishes.

Milling

Milling is the process of machining using rotary cutters to remove material by advancing a cutter into a part. Delta’s mills are capable of milling a wide range of configurations. Delta Centrifugal® prides itself in the range of parts we are able to mill.
